| Directions: | |
| We are located near Waynesboro, GA, which is 45 minutes south of Augusta. Most of you have been here before. If you need directions, ask Dee or myself and we'll get you here. | |
| Buying Supplies: | |
| Waynesboro is about 12 miles away, and has a cramped Wal-mart, a Bi-Lo, and two small hardware stores. Louisville is a little farther in the other direction and has a decent Ingles. The nearest Lowes or Fresh Market is close to an hour away. The upshot is, if there is anything interesting you want to have on hand as far as foodstuffs or equipment, bring it with you. | |
| Dyeing: If you want to share in dyepots, bring your own yarn or dyeables. For suggestions, see list on Geardageseld or consult Halcyon Yarn catalog. Suggested: Wool, silk, or linen, in 2/3, 3/5, or 2/12 weights (white or natural). | |
| Costs: | |
| $5 per person to defray misc. expenses (water, mowing field, wood, etc). | |
| Food: | |
| Friday night dinner: Derbail/Dee/Leofwen will put out heavy appetizers (meatballs, spinach puffs, veggie tray, chips and dip, etc.); feel free to contribute if you like. This is time for socializing and hanging out, looking at books, suffering through bad Beowulf movies, and so on. | |
| Saturday: Food will be coordinated by Barb/Irina/Mildreth. Everyone will bring something to share for the 3 Saturday meals (i.e., cheese, bread, fruit, etc. | |
| Sunday morning breakfast: Enough pancakes and bacon to satisfy the 3rd Army. | |
| Other meals: on your own or by consensus of whoever's hanging around. (In other words, there's always the pizza place). If you can’t stomach old-style food (or you are coming into town early), there is a home-style place, a cafeteria, 2 Chinese, a Mexican, a BBQ, a BBQ/Steak joint, KFC, McD, Subway, Pizza Hut, Dairy Queen, and Huddle House. | |
| Beverages: There is tap water available, but bring your own bottled water, sodas or juices if you like. Coffee is available and is fresh-ground. The site is wet for legal adults. | |
| Accommodations: | |
| There will be space in the (3+ acres) field for tenting. It will likely be mowed before the event, but there are still some potholes and bumps in the field. We will try to nail most of the fire ant mounds beforehand. There are a few annoying stobs from woody weeds, but mostly it will be grasses of various kinds. For those in need of modern beds, there are motels in town. | |
