Southeastern Cooperative Wildlife Disease Study (SCWDS)  Formed in 1957 and based at the University of Georgia, this agency is supported by state, federal and territorial agencies.  SCWDS is a clearinghouse for information on "the health of this nation's wildlife resources, domestic livestock, and people."

National Wildlife Health Center (NWHC)   is a science center of the Biological Resources Discipline of the United States Geological Survey. The NWHC was established in 1975 as a biomedical laboratory dedicated to assessing the impact of disease on wildlife and to identifying the role of various pathogens in contributing to wildlife losses.

Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) is a branch of the U S Department of Agriculture whose mission is to  protect America's animal and plant resources by safeguarding resources from exotic invasive pests and diseases, monitoring and managing agricultural pests and diseases existing in the United States, resolving and managing trade issues related to animal or plant health, and ensuring the humane care and treatment of animals.  See also the related Veterinary Services. 

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) serves as the national focus for developing and applying disease prevention and control, environmental health, and health promotion and education activities designed to improve the health of the people of the United States.
